Several hospitals and clinics are

of area medical facilities is First
Heath Moore Regional Hospital, servicing nearly fifteen NC counties.

This extraordinary facility includes an 8-lane 25 yard swimming

Pines Women's Health Center This 9,200-square-foot
center emphasizes comfort and confidentiality. The facility provides

Community College offers a nationally recognized landscape
gardening program, the only of its kind in the state of North
Carolina.
A varied curriculum includes programs toward college transfer in addition to numerous technical and vocational certificate programs, as well as continuing education courses. More than 13,000 students are served annually by the college's Divisions of Curriculum Education and Continuing Education.

Southern Pines Recreation
& Parks Department is leading the way in the Sandhills area
with its Greenway Trail System. The trail currently consists of
four greenways compiling 9 miles of hiking and biking accessiblility
connecting over 150 acres between Forest Creek, Longleaf, Mill Creek
and Reservoir Park. Longleaf Greenway is approximately 1 mile in
length. This greenway connects the Pine Grove Village, Talamore
and Longleaf neighborhoods to the Reservoir Park and Forest Creek
Greenways.Southern Pines plans to add greenways to extend the trail
to connect Nick's Creek as well. |
Whether as a participant or a
spectator, local activities are abound. Seasonal festivals are
held in the historic districts and include antique fairs, ongoing
arts and crafts ( such as at Seagrove
Potteries), and Springfest. The Tour de Moore international
bike race is held each Spring. Numerous equestrian events, major
golf and tennis tournaments, and the Sandhills
Horticultural Gardens as well as the Weymouth State Park are
enjoyed year round by our residents. The North
Carolina Zoological Park is one of the country's leading natural
habitat zoos and is only 45 minutes away. And only 40 minutes
away lies what is believed to be the oldest mountains in America,
part of the Uwharrie
National Forest .
